Little Presque Isle

Island of Gitche Gumee

Imagine…the shores of Lake Superior, at Little Presque Isle, north of Marquette, in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula…on a wall in your home, office, business lobby or cafeteria setting. Get the picture?

  1. Gitche Gumee made famous by Gordon Lightfoot’s song, The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.

The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they called Gitche Gumee
The lake, it is said, never gives up her dead
When the skies of November turn gloomy…

    1. Yes, most famously by Gordon Lightfoot, whose classic song you’ve noted and is one of my all-time favorites 👍 I lived on Lake Superior when the Edmund Fitzgerald sank, and, though quite a distance from Whitefish Point, it was huge news in all of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Thank you for your comment, my dear Louise ~ have a wonderful weekend 🙂
