My Favorite Chick Corea Songs

My Favorite Chick Corea Songs

Miscellaneous October 8, 2016

I’ve been listening to the jazz fusion sounds of seventy-five year old pianist & electric keyboardist, Chick Corea, for several years, but only recently learned that he is the fourth-most-nominated artist (63 nominations) in the history of the Grammys! I’m not surprised, though, as his diverse musical skills and styles have spanned a career encompassing 88 recorded albums…

Bike Riding Ann Arbor

Miscellaneous October 2, 2016

With temperatures warming to 68 degrees fahrenheit, the weather was perfect for a Sunday afternoon bike ride from Ann Arbor to Dexter, Michigan, and back again. With a full bottle of water, sunglasses and a camera, I was on the road and ready to begin the 22 mile trek!

My bike is a 56 cm Cadex-2 by Giant with a carbon fiber frame, 14 speeds and a recently replaced front wheel and tire. Very light, and fast. This 2016 season marks my fifth year biking and my fourth year riding this bike, originally purchased on craigslist.

Below is a map of my bike route (see red line). My starting and finishing point is the same, in Ann Arbor, shown here in the lower-right corner. The intersection of Huron River Drive & Mast Road, in Dexter (upper-left corner), is where I turn around to return.

Choose from a huge selection and stay warm this winter with a decorative throw blanket, available in my gallery at Society 6:

Our seriously soft throw blankets are available in three sizes and feature vividly colored artwork on one side. Made of 100% polyester and sherpa fleece, these might be the softest blankets on the planet, so get ready to cozy up. They can be machine washed separately with cold water on gentle cycle. Tumble dry on low heat setting. Do not iron or dry clean.

The same can be said about artwork – some is created through a very deliberative process using specific techniques and styles, or, on the other hand, by accident as a matter of chance. As for what constitutes a work as being art, any such definition undoubtedly includes a component of subjectivity. That said, here is one example of the process of creating art

An Irish Riddle

Miscellaneous March 26, 2014

The Question

Can you cite an example of a sentence which uses the word “and” five times in a row, consecutively?

The Story

Outside of Dublin, Ireland, there once was a pub known as the “Bear And Boar”. One morning after a powerful storm, the sign from the establishment had been broken and was scattered in shambles across the ground. The proprietor discovered the damage and set about to make repairs.

Later, a patron wandered by and was greeted by the owner. “Good day, Finnegan. How do you like our new sign?” Finnegan studied the sign for some time, and then responded as follows…

The Answer

I like the sign, fine. However, if it had been up to me, I would have left more spacing on the sign between the words “Bear” and “And”, and “And” and “Boar”.
