Chaotic Abstract Shapes

Chaotic Abstract Shapes

Abstract, Structures March 8, 2019

This exercise in creativity began as a modification to a preexisting design. Seeking to simplify the image, I added texture and used various artistic filters, blend modes and adjustment layers in Adobe Photoshop to affect change. This is the finish product of such endeavors – hope you like it.

Cat In A Chair

Cat In A Chair

Graphics, Photography March 1, 2019

Living in Kalamazoo, Michigan, at the time, this neighborhood cat would periodically enter through a small window opening of my upstairs apartment in an older house. Shelter from rain, comfortable seating and an occasional helping of tunafish from a can served to reinforce a friendship over time.

A variety of items featuring this graphic design are available in my galleries at Redbubble and Fine Art America.

Dog In The Window

Dog In The Window

Graphics, Photography February 10, 2019

Many moons ago, in a distant land referred to as Kalamazoo, a slow, low-to-the-ground basset hound named “Flash” posed for a picture in an apartment window.

He was a cantankerous dog, rather dim-witted and liked to howl loudly. And, if you looked at him in a manner he deemed inappropriate, Flash would express his displeasure rather quickly by means of a moderately-firm bite. Ouch!

How this graphic design came to be is somewhat unusual.

I took this photograph in 1997 using Kodak film in an analog camera. Several years later – probably 2005 – I owned a simple digital camera and a more ‘modern’ computer with creative software. At that time, I had the idea that I could take a digital photograph of the film negative, and use it in some fashion as an element of a future design. That point in time was this morning.

I used both Abode Photoshop & Affinity Photo to craft this graphic design, now available for purchase in the following galleries:

Evening Downtown

Evening Downtown

Abstract, Structures February 9, 2019

This textured abstract design depicts columns of city buildings with the fading light of dusk reflecting across many windows. I’ve added it to my galleries, here:

The idea for this design came about yesterday, when I thought I’d experiment with photographs of doors or windows in a layered collage. So, today I visited Pexels and discovered this free photograph (below) by Samuel Wölfl.

Rather than a collage, I instead used this single photograph with Adobe Photoshop to create the featured image, Evening Downtown.

Ocean Life

Ocean Life

Abstract, Nature February 8, 2019

Like many abstract artworks, it’s sometime not so easy to come up with an appropriate title for the piece. That is, unless you’re designing something in specific – which I wasn’t. After pondering the idea that this may appear to resemble an aerial view of a golf course – with greens, sand bunkers and water hazards – I opted instead for Ocean Life. Whichever train-of-thought you may prefer, you may enjoy it on a wall in your home or office by visiting my gallery at Fine Art America.
