City Lake Falls

Located in Cookeville, Tennessee, City Lake Falls is a small waterfall which can be enjoyed following a 1/4-mile hike along a paved surface through the woods.

There’s ample parking, picnic area, lake for fishing and/or water sports & a wooden viewing platform at the falls – no restrooms.

Little Piney Creek

After reviewing my options and seeing no clear pathway to the base of Lower Piney Falls, I turned and decided to follow Little Piney Creek, with a low water line, back towards Upper Piney Falls. It was a good decision (though I later fell on my keister) and I was pleased to observe many beautiful sights in this remote gorge environment. This photograph highlights an area which was especially appealing, with unique geological outcroppings, shallow water, reflections, and sunshine streaming from around the bend.

Framed / Canvas / Art / Poster / Metal / Wood / Acrylic / Tapestry

Prints and other items are available through my shops at Pixels and/or Fine Art America – a nice accent for your home or office!

Enjoy the great outdoors!

Soco Falls

I recently visited Soco Falls, a picturesque double waterfall located on the Eastern Cherokee Reservation between Maggie Valley & Cherokee, North Carolina. Visitors can hear the waterfalls from the small parking area, and it’s only a short 5-minute hike to an observation platform.

For a better view, the trail continues downhill to the base of the falls. It’s steep and rocky, with a constant mist in the air keeping the trail muddy, though several ropes have been installed to aid hikers during the descent.

Trail Is A Creek

No, this isn’t Bruce Creek – that’s located down a small hill to the left. This is the trail, which, essentially, has become a small creek following gravity. Better wear boots! See more.

In The Rough

I considered naming this design, “(it’s not a diamond) In The Rough”, though that title seemed long. Whatever form of gem this may be, it’s certainly lodged in a difficult to access area. Hint: you can acquire it more easily by simply visiting my galleries at Pixels and Zazzle, each of which feature a variety of interesting items…

Piney Falls Gorge Trail

Having observed that the gorge below Lower Piney Falls (Tennessee) wasn’t easily accessible, I hiked back uphill and sought to secure a path of descent further along the river. Alas, it was not to be. However, on this half-hour side excursion, I did have the opportunity to see some very interesting rock formations.

Hiking Sugarloaf Mountain

A slightly stylized digital photograph taken at Sugarloaf Mountain – near Marquette, in Michigan’s upper peninsula – featuring a roughed hiking trail strewn with rocks, tree roots and pine needles.
